Oil Pulling

I love my teeth, and I think I do a pretty good job taking care of them. With that being said, last week I went to the dentist for a check up and cleaning for the first time in 3.5 years. I normally do not go that long without a cleaning, but life happened, and yes, I made excuses ( the biggest on being that the x-rays stress me out!).
The dental hygienist was shocked that it had been that long since I had a professional cleaning because of how clean my teeth actually were! I attribute it all to coconut oil.
Coconut oil has so many amazing benefits. One of them being oil pulling. Every other night before I go to bed I swish around 1 tbsp. of coconut oil in my mouth for around 3-5 minutes. Afterward, I spit it in the garbage ( so it doesn’t clog my drain). You can read more about oil pulling here.
Sometimes to freshen my breath even more, I add a drop of peppermint oil to the coconut oil.
Afterward, my teeth feel smoother, cleaner and they even look whiter. Of course, oil pulling should not replace brushing or flossing. It is just something you can do to have added benefits to the health of your teeth!

I love coconut oil. What are some of your favorite uses for it? Comment below!
